Margarita Mix at home – A Beautiful Mess
Today, I’m excited to share my homemade margarine mix recipe. It’s super easy to make (with just two ingredients, plus water!).
However, the difference between a homemade margarine mix and the one you buy at the store is pretty insane. Sometimes store-bought mixes can be syrupy and raw. Homemade flavor Much fresher.
Totally worth the effort! Here is a short video I made that shows you exactly how to make your own margarine and margarine mix.
Ingredients for homemade margarine:
1/2 cup sugar
1 glass of water
1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 10 lemons)
Squeeze the clear lime juice into a bowl or measuring cup. I love this handy tool for squeezing lemons and limes.
Heat the water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Let the mixture cool a bit before adding the lemon juice. Mix together and pour into one glass caramel or mill.
Refrigerate the mixture for up to two weeks.

Add 1 glass of tequila and half a glass of three seconds to one glass of margarita (or these cactus cups!). Add ice and fill the rest of the glass with the homemade margarine mix.
It’s super simple! Don’t forget to salt and try the dish lemon salt if you want.
This homemade margarine mix is perfect for parties. You can easily adjust the ratio to make a large or small batch depending on how much you will be serving!
You can even use a cast iron pot like this when making a larger batch.
Can I Make Different Flavors Of Margarita Mixes?
Right! You can make different variations of this recipe by using grapefruit, orange, or cranberry juice instead of lemon juice. You can even make your own Strawberry margarine mix.
Lots of options! Don’t be afraid to experiment.
