An Irish man and woman are in critical condition after four people were shot at the Marbella nightclub.
One person – believed to be the gunman – was stabbed and was arrested, according to local police. They said the suspect was in serious condition with chest and head injuries.
The status of the other two people shot is unclear.
Police did not say what caused the violence at the Opium beach club, but sources told Spanish news site El Confidencial it followed an altercation just after 1 a.m. Monday.
Video published online appeared to show a man brandishing a bottle of brandy – seconds later, several explosions were heard and club members at the crowded outdoor venue ran in panic.
The names of those involved have not yet been released.
Opium describes itself as hosting “legendary day parties by the sea … to spectacular concerts that illuminate starry nights”.
