Mankind, 4X history, now has a substantial free demo
Human caught up with Sid Meier’s Civilization, and like its famous predecessor, it offers a 4X game that spans the length of human history. Chances are you already know what you get with each new version of Civ, however, while committing to a brand new 4X can feel like a huge risk.
Join Humankind’s new 100 turn demo, now available.
Here’s the Amp Amp trailer – also an evolution of the Endless game – given to mark the demo of Humanity, with plenty of praise:
Mankind is reported to be excellent, if the reporter you’re listening to is Nate Crowley (RPS in peace). In his Human evaluation, Nate praised it going back to the Stone Age, but also pointed out that it was a strange beast of a game.
“My only real problem with Humanity is the one I alluded to at the outset: that despite really liking it, I’m not 100% sure what it is,” he concluded. “It started to prove itself as a historic 4X that was clearly not a Civ clone, and it succeeded. But as it flexed around the Big Sid baby monolith, it evolved into Just a lot of continuations, is the best I can come up with. Sometimes this makes for an extremely rich strategic gameplay. Other times it makes the experience almost overwhelming. Download information.”
The demo is like a good way to find out what Humanity is before you decide whether to buy it or not. Your trial can last 100 turns and spans three eras of the game’s history: Neolithic, Ancient, and Classic. There are also 14 different cultures to mix together, and the demo comes with a custom map generator.
Demo is available to download from Steam and Epic game store. If you like it, the entire game is currently 20% off.
