Management denies entry of Baltas Horses in Los Alamitos
Manager at Racetrack Los Alamitos According to public information officer Mike Marten of the California Horse Racing Commission, the entries of horses trained by Richard Baltas were denied during a meeting taking place there.
Baltas has appealed the managers’ decision, although a hearing regarding that decision has not yet been scheduled, Marten said.

In the complaint, the council said between April 15 and May 8, 23 of Baltas’ horses were captured on surveillance video administered by members of Baltas administering higenamine and paeonol. According to the US Anti-Doping Agency, higenamine is a stimulant classified as a beta-2 agonist. Paeonol, according to the National Library of Medicine, has been used for decades as an anti-inflammatory agent for people.
Marten said a hearing regarding the complaint is scheduled for August 3 – after which a ruling could be reached.
