Having surveillance cameras around your home can provide more than peace of mind. In McClain County, Oklahoma, a resident’s security camera captured not a burglary, but a different type of crime. Footage shows a man ruthlessly throwing three puppies down a gravel road. Not only did he abandon the dogs, but he also physically harmed them.
Witness, Joe Fleming, described for KFOR what he saw on his security camera that day.
“[The suspect] opened the hatch and reached in and started grabbing the dogs by the neck and throwing them in the back of the truck. “
To say the least, the footage is unsettling. Police have shared pictures of the offender, asking the public to help identify him. The results of the investigation are not shared publicly.

People who care about baby mice
Although one horrible person showed the cruelty of these dogs, some people tried to show their love. Dana Scott, a partner with Help Paws . Animal RescueNote that although this type of abuse is terrible, sadly not so rare. She speaks:
“Over the past eight years, my partner and I have saved 1,100 dogs from this exact situation.”
Luckily for them, these three dogs will be saved by Help Paws. The rescue killed/disabled and microchipped the dogs. They found instant foster homes, and they finally found forever families. One adopter, Steve Howard, said he was happy to help a struggling animal.
“We have a huge space in the country and we want to help animals.”

What to do if you witness animal abuse
Collect any evidence to report to your local animal control agency. If your area doesn’t have an official animal control agency or you can’t find one, call your local police. Police departments sometimes have units specific to animal cases. If not, they can direct you to the appropriate agency.
