Malsipree OllyDog Gulpy dog water bottle
Dog water bottles are handy products that allow our puppies to stay hydrated on the go while discouraging them from drinking from problematic water sources. But which ones are the best? We tested three popular models, each with one or two unique features, to see how they stack up: MalsiPree, OllyDog, and the classic Gulpy.
MalsiPree is a super nice bottle with a trick: it allows you to return unused water to the bottle with the push of a button.
OllyDog water bottles pride themselves on economy; It allows you to hygienically share a single water bottle with your puppy.
The squeeze-powered Gulpy is a popular dog water bottle choice and a favorite from the past dog water bottle great.
To see what water bottles could keep up with my doggos and I, I gathered my devoted dog companions, Remy and Lucy, and told them about their mission. Remy is thrilled to try something new, while Lucy is hesitant (as always). Both agreed to help me pick a winner.
The MalsiPree: A sleek, push-button bottle
The MalsiPree water bottle for dogs is a stylish, portable carrying case, available in two colors: blue and pink. It is reinforced with a silica gel seal and a slide lock to prevent leaks. Its fame is the push button: you can quickly fill the bowl with water by pressing a button at the top of the bottle. When the dog is finished drinking, press the button again to return the water to the storage tank for future use.
MalsiPree dog water bottles come in two sizes: 12 and 19 ounces (1.5 or 2.3 cups). Both sizes include a strap you can wrap around your wrist for easy carrying on the go. For $17.99 or $22.99 (depending on size), this water bottle is on the pricier side.
Our test was largely successful: I found I could easily hold and press the water dispenser button with one hand. When I first gave it to my pups after a play session outside, they were hesitant at first, because I was holding the bottle in my hand and it wasn’t lying on the ground like they were used to.
However, Remy quickly got used to it and drank a sizable portion—that’s how I realized that MalsiPree became a bit unwieldy when the bottle was only half full. I had to tilt it down for a constant flow while making sure not to spill what was already in the bowl—a bit awkward.
What we like:
- Nice design, easy to carry
- Handy button to return unused water to the tank
- Leak-free silica gel buckle and ring for carrying in a pocket
What we don’t like:
- Less convenient for heavy drinkers
- Dishwasher not safe
OllyBottle: A Smart, Shareable Design
Very easy to mistake for OllyDog OllyBottle your own, but it’s definitely designed with dogs in mind. OllyDog baby bottles are made from vegan, non-toxic, dishwasher safe plastic. Unlike the MalsiPree and Gulpy dog bottles, the OllyDog water bottle bowl is removable, so you can easily put it on the ground for your dog to drink.
You don’t have to worry about losing the bowl; It easily attaches to the bottle when you are on the move again. The lid has a silicone handle for easy opening and closing. It also has a loop handle so you can attach it to your backpack.
The OllyDog bottle comes in five colors – orange, purple, grey, blue and green – and two sizes: 1 liter and 600 milliliters (2.5 or 4.2 cups). Prices are comparable to MalsiPree, ranging from $17.95 to $19.95, depending on size.
OllyDog passed our tests with flying colors. The enclosed bowl slides gently from the carrying case, and is easy to hold and empty the bottle. I leave the bowls on the deck when my dogs play, and they come to get drinks when needed.
I was hesitant about this water bottle at first, as the bowl is completely removable (and therefore can be lost). However, after using it, I quickly became a fan, and I think Remy and Lucy like this style the most. We found it to be a versatile bottle, perfect for camping, hiking or a day at the dog park — especially since the removable bowl allows humans to share water. hygienically with their pups.
What we like:
- The bowl can be disassembled without the need for a person to hold it
- Allows humans and pups to share a bottle hygienically
- Large capacity
- Dishwasher safe
What we don’t like:
- Fragile attachment ring between bottle and base; Needs to be handled a little more gently
Gulpy Dog water bottle: A classic that suits your pocket
The Gulpy Pet Water Purifier It’s been around for ages, and at $12.99, it’s also the most affordable dog water bottle on our list. This BPA-free container is versatile and convenient for both pets and pet parents. To use, all you have to do is flip the water bottle over and then squeeze to spray the water into the included bowl.
It also has a belt clip on the handle to attach it to a bag or belt. The size is similar to an average water bottle, so you can even stand it upright in the cup holder for safekeeping in your car.
Gulpy comes in four colors: blue, green, orange, and yellow. It holds about 20 ounces (2.5 cups) of water, and Our testers found it to be excellent for hiking on a hot day.
What I like most about this water bottle is its convenience: it’s very quick and easy to flip the bottle over and squeeze it into the included bowl. When you’re done, simply fold the bottle and bowl together, and you’re good to go. Its only drawback is that since the bowl is slightly curved, it can be a bit unsteady on the ground — you may want to keep a hand on it while your dog takes a sip.
What we like:
- Great value for the price
- Easy to use
- Friendly owner cup
What we don’t like:
- Ask for some human help on uneven surfaces
- Dishwasher not safe
Which Dog Water Bottle is Best?
So is MalsiPree, OllyDog or Gulpy dog water bottle the best? It depends on your needs.
For my dogs, Gulpy is the most convenient due to its shape, size and price. I like that I don’t need to worry about losing the attached bowl. With two dogs, this water bottle was the easiest for me to pull out and use with just one hand while keeping them under control. One downside to the Gulpy Dog Water Bottle, however, is that it doesn’t always balance on its own, so you may need to hold it. I also like the long and narrow bowl attachment, so my medium-sized dogs can drink it all up in no time (as long as Lucy doesn’t become a bully).
What is that Gulpy best for?
- Quick, one-handed operation (good for multi-dog families)
- Medium-sized baby mouse
- thrifty dog water bottle hunter
- Car and road trips (thanks in part to the cup holder-friendly design)
The OllyDog OllyBottle is also a fierce competitor due to its size, portability and unique design. At first, I was worried that I would mess around with the attachment to the bowl to get the dog water quickly, but it all went well. My dogs seem to gravitate towards this dispenser because the bowl stands well on its own, making it similar to their water bowls at our house. This is a great option for camping or traveling, as you can also transfer water for food in the bowl attachment if needed. Plus, we love that it’s easy to share water.
What is OllyBottle best for?
- Big dogs and big drinkers
- Sharing a bottle between a mouse and a human
- Hiking and camping; anywhere you want to leave a bowl on the ground instead of holding it
- No more hand washing dishes (this is dishwasher safe!)
