Madone Named 2021 Trained Aiken Horse of the Year
Aiken City’s Department of Tourism, Recreation and Parks announced on February 8 that Madone was named the Aiken Trained Horse of the Year 2021.
Madone won the San Clemente Stakes (G2T) and Senorita Stakes (G3T) in 2021. She raced 10 times last year with 5 wins and $217,000 in earnings.
Glendalough bred Madone, a foal of the year 2018, in Kentucky. Dark brown skin girl Vancouver –Solerina via Indian love call . Kaleem Shah purchased it for $125,000 from Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company in March 2021 during the 2-Year-Old Dog Training Sale.
She trained at the historic Aiken Training School under Cary Frommer and is currently training in California by Simon Callaghan.
The Aiken Trainer of the Year Award, created in 2002, honors local thoroughbreds who have had an outstanding racing season. Nominees must have been trained in Aiken County and must have won at least one graded bet race during the year or exceed $500,000 in career earnings. The Hall of Fame Advisory Board approves the winners.
Starting April 1, 2022, an exhibit about Madone’s 2021 racing season will be on display in the Hall of Fame.
