The score 31-1 Luis Nery in the match against Keith Thurman – Mario Barrios on Saturday. The 27-year-old Mexican took on Carlos Castro 27-0 in a scheduled 10th round match in the super bantamweight division. A great fruit for the first time placing Castro right on the carpet. Castro beat the count and Nery got to work, darting away as if he were Aaron Pryor. Castro was able to survive the round, but the opening chapter clearly went in a big direction for Nery. The speed then slows down considerably in seconds.

Castro’s ability to survive Nery’s attack was impressive at first, but by the third round it was clear that the more skilled Nery controlled the attack well. Castro joined his men in the fourth installment, but couldn’t have done better than Nery in the process. With that, the match got tighter in the fifth inning. By the sixth inning, things were getting hot. Castro is pushing for action and having his moments. Nery, on the other hand, has an impressive footwork and is probably a cleaner puncher. Nery also demonstrates a solid move strategy in season seven.

A slip put Nery on the field early in the round of 16, but he got up no worse for wearing. Sure enough, he started taking off his man, at least for a moment, then in the ring. Nery continued to stick and move into the ninth inning, as it began to appear that the match was now his to lose. The tenth round saw Nery use the ring general effectively. The referee’s cards ruled in favor of Nery through the division decision.
