The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association announced today, February 18, 2022, that it will hold an Annual Sale followed by a mixed session under the banner of the Shepherd Sales Company. Louisiana’s farm on October 1.
The sale will be held at the Louisiana Campus Equine Sales Facility in Opelousas, La. And is limited by the number of booths at the facility is 228.
After not making a sale since 2015, LTBA ramped up its sales organization last year when Equine Sales of Louisiana opted out of sales expected in 2021. Last year’s average sales price was just over $13,000. with an average of $8,000.
With the advent of Sports Betting and the arrival of the historic Horse Racing Machine, it is anticipated that the amount spent on recognized Louisiana Stalls will increase significantly.
The admission deadline is July 6. Application forms will be available by the end of May and can be downloaded from the Louisiana Purebred Breeders Association website.
