Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up

Since the first launch of a smartwatch by a Swiss luxury brand in 2015, it has been interesting to see how high-end brands take over the smartwatch sector. With movements crafted in precious stones and metals, these brands must create pieces that become luxury manifestos and tech wearables. French luxury house Louis Vuitton has launched its latest Tambour Horizon Light Up – the Maison’s third generation of connected watches.

The third generation of Louis Vuitton’s Tambour Horizon, Light Up, takes connected smartwatches to the next level, offering previously unseen levels of customization and personalization. On the outside, the Light Up is available in a 44m box with three versions: Polished Steel, Matte Black using PVD coating with contrasting titanium crown and lugs; and Matte Brown – accompanied by a PVD bearing the brand’s iconic monogram. Louis Vuitton took the original Tambour watch shape and adapted it for the connected Horizon. This watch features a beautifully designed and engineered curved sapphire crystal as the display, like an infinity pool that blends into a distant horizon. There are 24 LEDs on the back of the Louis Vuitton Monogram ring that glow to create a kaleidoscope of colors when the watch is activated. The Tambour Horizon Light Up is also the first connected Louis Vuitton watch with push buttons on either side of the crown.

LV’s USP – customizability shines with watches too. The Light Up has eight built-in dial configurations to choose from, including one in the captivating stripe animation – a nod to the Maison’s iconic stub bodies – and another with Vivienne, the enchanting mascot of the Maison. The watch face can be customized to a rainbow of colors, including 11 new bold gradients. The brand will be adding more watch faces dedicated to seasons, fashion shows, and important calendar dates. The watch also features a quick strap change system that gives owners access to the vast and colorful world of Louis Vuitton Tambour bracelets and an even deeper level of personalization.

Swiping right makes ‘My Day’ the home for daily apps and activities like agenda, weather, step counting, heart rate and even air quality display; down bearing notice; Up shows a control panel, including all functions. On the left are ‘My Travels’, where travel plans and boarding passes are available, and 30 curated Louis Vuitton City Guides. Replacing Google’s WearOS, the operating system for Tambour’s predecessors, Louis Vuitton has now launched their own designed operating system – Tambour Horizon. The watch is compatible with Android and HarmonyOS smartphones; it is also the first device outside of Apple’s ecosystem to be recognized as “MFI” or “for iPhone”.

Featuring a sharp Infinity AMOLED display and colorful bezels, Tambour Horizon Light Up includes a lightning-fast Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of Flash memory to ensure smooth graphics. For the first time, a Tambour Horizon line will feature heart rate monitoring. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters. Equipped with an all-day battery, the brand offers four modes Blossom, Explorer, Submarine and Saver.

The Tambour Horizon Light Up watch seamlessly blends art and technology and showcases the growth potential of luxury brands in the story of high-end connected watches.
