With Splatoon 3 is coming up, and Splatfest World Premiere takes place on August 27, fans are more eager than ever to find out how the third squid festival will go online. And outstanding dataminer @OatmealDome discovered that the upcoming game will use a new internal server system for online lobbies (thanks, Go Nintendo!).
This means that Splatoon 3 is now the third game to use NPLN, Nintendo’s internal server system, after Monster Hunter Rise and Pokémon Legend: Arceus. Both before Splatoon The game uses NEX, a system derived from the 3DS, and offers several launch apps such as Your Friends List.
While this will largely be used to enhance some of the game’s new Lobby features, it will help improve some aspects of matchmaking, which will aid in the series’ peer-to-peer gameplay. -ri. The NPLN will attempt to match based on player latency and can act as an assist if the two consoles cannot connect due to NAT types. OatmealDome goes into more detail in the Twitter thread below.
But that’s not all that comes with Splatoon 3. According to OatmealDomelooks like the game will use AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 – most recently used in Nintendo Switch Sports. This upscaling technology uses spatial upscaling, which utilizes the data recorded in the current frame, and can, therefore, improve in-game performance and frame rates while ensuring gameplay. Play as smooth as possible.
Those are good improvements for Splatoon 3, then! The server system seems to have worked wonders for Monster Hunter in particular, and hopefully AMD FidelityFX will take control of those Tricolor Turf Wars. The test will take place next Saturday when Splatfest World Premiere takes place!
