Liverpool star Salah reacts to Barcelona transfer speculation
Mohamed Salah says he is “delighted” to learn that Barcelona want to sign him but insists he wants to stay at Liverpool.
Recent reports in Spain suggest that new coach Xavi is determined to bring the 29-year-old to Camp Nou in the context of his team’s desire to strengthen the attack.
However, the Egypt international is in talks to sign a contract extension at Anfield, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2023.
What does Salah say about Barcelona’s transfer rumors?
Although very upset by the interest from the Catalan team, Salah is still determined to commit his future to Liverpool.
“I read what was said about Xavi wanting to sign me,” he told Egyptian broadcaster MBC.
“This is what makes me very happy that a club like Barcelona are interested in me, but I’m happy to be at Liverpool and we’ll see what happens in the future.
“For now, I want to stay in the Premier League because it’s the strongest league in the world.”

Will Salah sign a new contract at Liverpool?
Although Salah would rather stay in England, he has admitted that the decision may be out of his control, as he waits for the club and his agent to come to an agreement.
“I have said many times, if the decision is up to me, I want to stay at Liverpool,” he added. “But the decision is in the hands of the leadership and they have to deal with this.
“There is no problem but we have to come to an agreement for the contract. It is on them.
“Your financial worth shows how much the club appreciates you and they are willing to do anything for you to stay, but the decision itself is not based solely on those financial matters.
“There are things like the ambitions of the team and the coach and what he wants to do with the team and the players that he wants. These are all important points when making a decision. “
