Liverpool hospital explosion: Passengers brought explosives into taxi, police say
The explosion outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital on Sunday has been declared a terrorist attack by police.
A taxi exploded and engulfed in flames just before 11:00 GMT at the drop-off area near the entrance.
Speaking at a news conference, Assistant Chief Constable Russ Jackson said that police believe the taxi’s passenger carried an explosive device into the vehicle. He asked to be taken to the hospital.
The passenger died at the scene, while the taxi driver was released from the hospital after his injuries.
