Less is more: 7 amazing Bobber motorcycles for 2023
Bobbers are pure ride motobike. They’re what happens when you take everything you can out of a bike and strip it down to the basics. They are one-man machines made to experience motorcycling in its purest form possible without any extra features. These seven 2023 bobbers prove that less can be more.
What makes a motorcyclists? Traditional bobbers are called bobbers because it’s an acronym for “bar hopper” or because you’ve “bobbed” the fenders, depending on who you ask. Bobbers are what you get when you remove the windshield, fenders and passenger seat, remove all unnecessary lights and mirrors, bags and anything else that might slow you down. When you ride a bobber, it’s just you, the bike, and the wind.
Curtiss 1
Curtiss’ The 1 is definitely an interesting all-electric bobber. The first has an 82kW (110 hp) motor that produces 200 Nm (147.5 lb.-ft) of torque. But Curtiss is not about numbers, it’s about beauty and engineering. For example, the electric tube motor is liquid-cooled and it drives the rear wheels with carbon fiber belts.
The company is named after aviation and motorcycle pioneer Glenn Curtiss, and the billet aluminum chassis certainly looks like an airplane. However, unlike airplanes, The 1 is fully adjustable from wheelbase, tilt angle, trail and ergonomics. If you want a bike with faster handlebars or a long-distance touring bike, no problem.
After a few years of teasing us, Curtiss recently opened the order book. The company is preparing to deliver the car by the end of 2023. However, be prepared to pay for this miracle. The Curtiss 1 starts at $120,000, or $150,000 if you choose your own custom Curtiss trust.
Victory Bonneville 2023
Most of us when we think of bobbers, we think of something that looks like 2023. Victory Bonneville Bobber. It’s basic, it’s omitted and low with a seat. Even so, the Bonneville Bobber is still powered by Bonnie’s T120, which means you get a 1200cc 79 hp and 77.4 lb.-ft (104 Nm), a pair of chrome exhaust pipes, and wheels. wire, and that’s it.
The Bonneville Bobber is for many people the essence of a ponytail bike, with simple fenders, no backseat, and no room to stash a phone or gear. It’s a pure bike to ride alone.
Chief Bobber India
Some would say that the big Chief Bobber is not a bobber because it has fenders. However, this is a stand-alone machine, one that ditches all travel gear and shrinks the Chief to basics. The Dark Horse painted black version has small giblets, front controls, black forks and shock absorbers. The Chief also has a large, air-cooled 1818 cc (111 ci) engine that produces 108 lb.-ft (146 Nm) of torque. Speaking of that big engine, it’s air-cooled, one of those dying V-twin bikes that doesn’t need an oil cooler.
New for 2023, the Chief has a new slipper clutch with a larger friction zone. You also get a Ride Command system that lets you connect your phone to your bike and a Bluetooth helmet system.
Bobber scout 2023
2023 Indian Scout Bobber, like its bigger brother Chief, removes all the stuff you don’t need on the Scout. Instead, you get chopped fenders, lower bar, custom-looking side-plate number plate holders, and that’s all. The Scout Bobber comes with an Indian water-cooled 1133 V-twin making 93 hp (73 kW), with two giant Gatling gun exhausts exiting to the right.
The Scout is smaller and more agile than the Chief, and for many, that handling is a big bonus. We wouldn’t recommend the Scout Bobber for a long haul, but then none of these bikes are really designed for long hauls.
Duacti xDiavel 2023
When you say Ducati, most of us don’t think of “bobber”. But, there’s no reason xDiavel shouldn’t be one. It is a simple single-seater bike with no real creature comforts or gear for traveling. It’s just faster than most bobbers thanks to a 1,262-hp Testastretta twin-cylinder engine that makes 160 hp (119 kW).
We like the Dark, all-black version, which seems to capture the essence of the bike. In all black, it just screams “I’m going alone.” The xDiavel also handles more like a sport bike than any upright bobber in the business, but the traction control system and different riding modes will help you stay slick.
2023 Maeving RM1
The Maeving RM1 is another way on a bobber. This British hipster-style all-electric bike is designed with city dwellers looking for fun on their daily commute. Its top speed is only 45 miles per hour, and it has a limited range. However, it has a steel frame and brushed aluminum body that gives it a real sense of quality.
Even so, Maeving is very smart. It comes with one or two batteries that slide into a storage point below the “storage tank”. You can pull the battery and slide it into the wall charger. For those of us who don’t have access to a street charger this is a genius and it allows apartment dwellers to charge overnight.
2023 Harley-Davidson Bob Street
Street Bob is classic harley bobber car. It has all you need on a bike, and nothing more. With its undulating fenders, tall mini bar and undulating fenders, it looks like a lightweight version straight from the show floor. The new Milwaukee-Eight 114ci (1,868 cc) engine stays true to Harley tradition with its lever-operated overhead valves, but it also makes it the most powerful Street Harley has ever produced.
Harley also produces Fat Bob and sports athlete S, which many would also say are Bobbers. The Fat Bob has a new Softail frame and also a 114 mill Milwaukee-Eight engine. Before our eyes, however, the Street Bob with its single-seat option, traditional front suspension (Fat Bob and Sportster with upside-down forks) and classic lines made us just want to hop on and shoot straight away.
