Citing the lingering effects of severe winter weather, Laurel Park, Lawn Parkand Hollywood Game at Mahoning Valley Race Course canceled the live race on February 5.
Aside from a winter storm, which passed through the Mid-Atlantic region on February 3-4, freezing temperatures and wind chill were contributing factors to the cancellations at Laurel.
Laurel’s planned partial ARC simulation presentation from San Isidro has also been cancelled.
Laurel, Pimlico racetrackRosecroft and the Maryland Jockey Club’s OTB network remain open for simulations.
Live racing is scheduled to return to Laurel with eight-race programming on February 6. Posting time is 12:25 p.m. ET.
Oaklawn Park also canceled all three race days this week due to snow and ice at the Arkansas track.
Turfway Parks director of racing and racing secretary Tyler Picklesimer posted on social media that the US$100,000 deposit at Turfway, originally due for Saturday, has been rescheduled to a later date. February 12. The horses must be re-nominated. Nominations close on February 6.
