In Gucci houseLady Gaga’s character, Patrizia Reggiani, is famous for two reasons. She was married to Maurizio Gucci, grandson of company founder Guccio Gucci – and she was convicted of murdering the fashion heiress in 1995.
To prepare for the role, Gaga said she spent months researching Reggiani for director Ridley Scott’s new film.
“I had to decide as an actor, ‘Does she have killer genes? Was she born a killer?’ And I don’t believe she ever was,” Gaga told NPR host A Martínez on Morning version. “I think it was the trauma points of her life that made her what she became, a monster.”

The film was released on Thanksgiving in the US, based on the 2001 book The Gucci House: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Seduction and Greed.
Currently, the film has received considerable criticism. Lady Gaga and other actors trying to speak with an Italian accent were rebuffed.
On November 29, the heirs of former president Aldo Gucci, who is Maurizio’s uncle, issued declare, said that the film’s depiction of the family was inaccurate, saying that they were portrayed as “thugs, ignorant and insensitive to the world around them.”
When asked about those criticisms, Lady Gaga said her heart goes out to her family.
“This must have been extremely painful to watch. A true life story goes by which is essentially our version of what we believe to be true and Ridley’s version of the story. ,” she said.
Lady Gaga added that she did her best to make it “a story about women and survival.”
In an interview with NPR’s Morning version, she discussed her part in Gucci house, from the voice to the way the role came to her at a critical time in her own life.
Take us through the process of nailing that accent.
Patricia is with me every day on set, and I always speak with my accent and I don’t speak fluent Italian. I speak some Italian. The Italian I speak, I speak with my accent. I have known Donatella Versace for many years, so sometimes I can speak like Donatella. So in a way, I spent some time erasing the things I do so I could study the way she talks, so that it’s real and real and concrete. So when she’s younger, you’ll notice her voice is higher, and then in the movie, her voice is lower. So there’s a really scientific way I’ve approached that. And because I’m a singer – vowels and consonants, everything – you learn to do things with your mouth. So I did my research in a very particular way, but for the most part it was just time and focus, dedication and living in it.

I think Patrizia was really intrigued when Maurizio didn’t want to be part of the family business because she grew up with a lot less numbers than he did. She can’t get the idea that you’re going to have a dynasty at your disposal, but you’re not going to hold onto it but cherish it and run it.
She is a survivor and she is creeping in and out of her family. And I’ve really tried to exploit this idea that it’s not a matter of chance but of – “How do I take on what life is putting in front of me” and “How can I be the best at it?” “How can I get a hold of it?” “How can I not only survive but win in a way my family has never won?”
You said that this role came to you at a difficult time in your own life. Can you tell us a little bit about why that period was difficult for you?
I have trouble with popularity. I struggled for years with this kind of existential crisis of love and artistic creation and also yearned for a more private life. I found this character and I read it and I talked to Ridley, and Ridley said to me, “She really loves him.” And then I thought to myself, “that I know what to do,” which is to play the role of a killer and simply play something lackluster where you just play the villain throughout the series. film. That’s not interesting to me.
But the thought that she would be a real young girl and a real woman fell madly in love and thought she was important because she was smart. Think she’s important because she’s strong. Thought she was important because he loved her. And then left behind and abandoned. I really think it’s a hat trick with this movie that there’s heart to be put in this movie, and I think it could easily be something compelling to watch. But I think it turned out to be something engaging, but also something that evokes empathy for all of the characters, that is, empathy for this family. This fight, this war for their own skin and this fight for Gucci.
