La Crete had successful surgery after breaking Condylar


Crossbreed of Stonestreet Stables La Crete successfully underwent surgery to repair a tibia fracture in her right front leg that she suffered on February 19 at Rachel Alexandra Stakes presented by Fasig-Tipton (G2) at Fair Grounds & Slots. 3 year old kid Medaglia d’Oro Filly was taking the lead as she approached the half-mile point of the 1/16-mile race when Eclipse Award-winning jockey Joel Rosario pulled her up quickly while managing the other horses in the yard.

“La Crete had a successful surgery at (Louisiana State University) yesterday to repair a drain fracture. She was doing great this morning. She will be back on the ranch after being discharged. clean to get going. Thank you everyone for taking care of our girl,” Stonestreet wrote on Twitter Feb. 21.

La Crete is the second pony of Transport (by Bernardini), 1st place multiple winner with over $2 million for Stonestreet. Cavorting’s first pony, Clairiere (Curlin ), won the Cotillion Stakes (G1) with Rachel Alexandra Stakes last year and is working steadily at Fair Grounds for her 4-year-old debut.

Saturday’s race was La Crete’s third warm-up for Hall of Fame coach Steven Asmussen. In November, she won for the first time with the special maiden weight in Churchill Downs and started the year with a win in the Silverbulletday Stakes at the Fair Grounds in January.
