When Kell Brook looks back on his remarkable career, he is immediately filled with joy and satisfaction.
In 2004, at the age of 18, Brook entered the ring for the first time as a professional. Almost a decade later, the British star achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a world champion.
With some of the best names the boxing sport has to offer, however, Brook believes his time beneath the sport’s bright lights is over.
Brook said: “I had a long conversation with my family and my parents, and it was all over for me. “I will never box again.”
Brook’s recent revelation comes from the back of what is arguably his proudest achievement. After years of bickering again with longtime rival Amir Khan, the two officially squared off in the ring to pour their bad blood on the bed.
A packed crowd filled the Manchester Arena on February 19, 2022. An enraged Brook had clearly moved forward from the opening bell, keeping a high guard while his shots were lightning-fast. the word Khan popped out of his glove.
As Brook began to find his range, he defeated his elder, eventually leading to victory in the sixth round. Soon after, Brook revealed that despite being 36 years old, he still feels young and alert. After backing his words, Team Brook quietly began negotiations for his next ring appearance with welterweight contender Conor Benn and former interim middleweight star, Chris Eubank Jr., are emerging as the frontrunners.
However, in the past few days, negotiations between the two sides have turned cold as Brook chose to hang up his gloves for good instead.
Brook, while perfectly satisfied with how his career has turned out, is unsurprisingly pensive as he holds back tears and stammers at his words. Throughout it all, Brook admits to his dark moments, including having suffered consecutive orbital fractures following successive defeats at the hands of Gennadiy Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr.
Even so, despite the sour moments, Brook also smiled at his prestigious and memorable victories. However, more than his forgettable win over Shawn Porter, who led to his first world championship and more prominently sharing the ring with British star Terence Crawford, Brook is proud. most when he was allowed to leave the sport he once loved during his tenures.
“It’s actually a little emotional to actually say this. My mother [Julie] is relief. I think everyone around me is satisfied. It’s been a long journey and all I know. “I was a world champion, and that night with Shawn Porter in California will live with me forever. As well as my last fight with Amir.
“I was in the ring with Golovkin, Spence, Crawford, and in the end I fought Amir Khan. After that, I don’t think I need to continue. The truth is, boxing is a very, very tough and dangerous sport, a sport where you can legally get killed in the ring, and now I’m done with all the skills. His powers are still intact. “
