Keeneland finds new owners for all six reintroduced horses
According to Tony Lacy, Keeneland’s vice president of sales, six horses purchased at Keeneland last September had to be resold at the end of February for non-payment.
The horses, which were purchased in September by agent Richard Knight for Kuwaiti businessman Saleh Al Homaizi for nearly $5 million, were not offered in the semi-digital form that Keeneland had used in the past. Instead, potential buyers offered the highest price they were willing to pay, and Keeneland got the best offer. Lacy noted before the sale that only reasonable offers would be accepted and that unsold horses may have been offered for sale at Keeneland’s April Selected Horse of Racing Age Sale on April 30.
