With less than two weeks to go, they face George Kambosos trying to put pressure on Devin Haney.
Their undisputed bout saw Haney travel to Melbourne to take on Australia’s three-belt world champions at the city’s 56,000-capacity Marvel Stadium.
Haney will bring his WBC title to the lions’ den but will be without father and trainer Bill, who was unable to go Down Under with a criminal conviction in the early 90s. His son will now have Yoel Judah in his corner.
Kambosos took the opportunity to explore the problem facing the Haney family and group.
“I hope his corner really loves him and supports him and isn’t just there on payday, because if dad wasn’t there, they wouldn’t have saved you,” Kambosos said. Sports news.
“They wouldn’t want to throw that towel in, because they were there for the money. I hope they take care of him but I will punish this guy.”
Kambosos, who beat Teofimo Lopez last November to become the number one boxer at 135lbs, then broke Haney’s 27-fight record.
“If you break it down, his first 20 flights were all in Mexico against taxi drivers. I could have fought them all in one night and got another 20 [wins] in my profile.
“His biggest fight was a 40-year-old hill climber Linares who injured him and he held out for the last few innings, just like my wife held me. ”
The undefeated 28-year-old has dismissed Haney’s skill as he claims he can match him and believes he can overwhelm the Americans.
“Everything I bring to the table will be too much for you and I just look forward to shocking the world again.”
