Junichi Masuda joins Pokemon Company as Creative Director
Game Freak founder Junichi Masuda has joined The Pokemon Company, now being appointed Creative Director within the company. Masuda resigns as CEO of Weird game on May 31, 2022. The Pokemon Company and Masuda released a joint statement for notification appointment. The Pokemon Company announced that it will work together with Masuda to develop new products and services.

I was the director of Pokemon series of video games, beginning with “Pokemon Ruby version and Pokémon Sapphire Edition“up until”Pokemon X and Pokemon Y“And has been involved in the development of many video games, including Pokemon GO. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all Pokemon fan.
In the future, I hope to push the boundaries of video games by trying to bring more surprises, fun and excitement to people all over the world, and at the same time doing my best to connect Connecting people, expanding “play” circles, and helping to bring richer worlds for us to share. I appreciate your continued support in my new role.
In July 2019, on Game Freak’s 30th anniversary, Masuda appeared in a special show. In it, he talked about the development of Pokemon and how fans often mistake Nintendo as the series’ lead developer. The program also provides a reflection on the developer’s history.
