Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns in Ireland ahead of the Scottish Open
The 150th Open Championship begins in just over a week, and a number of famous Americans have arrived early for some exciting prep work. Four of the world’s top 12 players have played at a number of prominent golf courses in Ireland ahead of the three major events they will participate in over the next two weeks.
First, Jordan Spieth plays Lahinch Golf Club, the venue of the 2019 Irish Open. on saturday with No. 1 in the world, Scottie Scheffler, and another American under 30, Sam Burns. Spieth is, amazingly, the lowest ranked player in the group as all three prepare for JP McManus Pro-Am on Monday and Tuesday, next week’s Scottish Open at Renaissance Club and The Open next week. then at the Old Course at Saint Andrew.
Spieth was, at one point, associated with several bearded tetrapod mammals.
On Sunday, Spieth took a drive south to Tralee Golf Club to play a round with Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler. They were joined by Spieth’s agent, Jay Danzi. The crew drew quite a crowd at Tralee, located just south of Lahinch on Ireland’s west coast. They were also given an early toast three weeks before they should have passed.
Scheffler and Burns resumed playing Ballybunion on Sunday.
All five of them will meet again on Monday and Tuesday at JP McManus Pro-Am in Adare Manor in Ireland alongside Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Collin Morikawa. They will then head to Renaissance Club on Thursday for the first ever Scottish Open co-accepted by both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. Then it came to St. Andrews for the event of the year. The 150th inaugural opening on golf’s home ground. As disappointing as the last few weeks were in regards to LIV Golf and what the future of the sport looks like, the next two weeks in Scotland will be absolutely breathtaking.
