Joe Biden falls while riding his bike after getting ‘stuck’ after hanging out on the beach with his wife Jill | US News
US President Joe Biden fell off his car in Delaware as he celebrated his 45th wedding anniversary over a weekend with his wife Jill.
He fell while trying to get off his bike at the end of a ride on Saturday at Cape Henlopen State Park near his home beach in the US state, but insists he was uninjured.
“I’m fine,” he told reporters after US Secret Service agents quickly helped him to his feet.
“I got my foot stuck in a toe cage.”
The 79-year-old leader and first lady Jill Biden were wrapping up their morning ride when the president decided to cycle to a crowd of wise men standing by the bike path.
But he fell to the ground when he tried to get off the car, shocking onlookers.
Several security personnel rushed to assist him after the fall, which took place on a trail in Gordons Pond.
The President quickly pulled back and spent a few minutes chatting with those who had gathered to watch him ride.
Before that, he glanced at members of the press after departing – without the first lady accompanying him – and said “Good morning!” with a wave.
He and Jill spent a long weekend at their Rehoboth Beach home after marking their 45th wedding anniversary on Friday.
The pair are said to be cyclists and regularly cycle around Delaware.
Wearing a gray T-shirt, navy shorts, blue Nike trainers and a cycling helmet, Mr. Biden had departed 11 minutes earlier with his security team.
After the disturbance, he spoke to members of the public as well as the press.
He told reporters that he would soon speak with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
Asked about trade tariffs, Mr. Biden replied: “I’m in the process of deciding.”
Back in March, Mr. Biden fell down the stairs when he boarded his Air Force One Presidential plane.
The US president, 78, tripped three times while climbing the flight of stairs at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
