Jockey’s TIP to host two championships


Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP) will host two championship shows in 2022: TIP Championship & Oriental Costume Championship to be held October 6-9 at Aiken, South Carolina, and the Western Championships & Central Costume Championships will take place October 12-15 in Lexington, Kentucky, in conjunction with the Retirement Racehorse Project’s Mastery Makeover.

Stable View Equestrian Center will host the South Carolina Championships, which will welcome hunters, divers, English fun, dressing, matching test, and hand-swapping competition in English. The Kentucky Horse Park will host dress competitions, western dressage, barrel racing, western fun, western halter tops, ranch riding and competitive trail competitions.

Both championship programs will have classes in hand, including classes specifically designed to honor horses that have started 50 or more times, have won over $100,000 in earnings, and approved by organizations recognized by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance or recipients of grants from the Thoroughbred Charity of America.

Six special prizes will be awarded at each show, recognizing the youngest, oldest, most recent race, highest earnings, highest selling price and most purebred.

The 2022 shows are ready to welcome nearly 350 Thoroughbreds competing in 38 divisions. Each division will be awarded $2,000 in prize money with prizes up to 10th place.
