Jockey Davis received a 7-day suspension for spa treatment


Jockey Dylan Davis received a seven-day suspension on August 12 for riding during Saturday’s August 10 race at Racecourse Saratoga resulted in another horse falling during a 5 1/2 horse long sprint.

Davis, who has not appealed the suspension, will miss the cards from August 17 to August 25.

While riding Montatham During the August 10 race, approaching the climax, Davis’ mount swings forward On Our Way Boyz , causing him to shutdown. On our way, Boyz then slipped on his heel with Montatham and fell, runner Eric Cancel.

Neither Cancel nor his mount were seriously injured.

Although Montatham’s rally got him across the finish line first, the son of Candy Ride was eliminated due to the incident and placed last.

The Mike Venezia Award goes to Leparoux

While surrounded by family, friends and fellow riders, Julien Leparoux received the 2022 Mike Venezia Award after her fifth race in Saratoga.

The award honors the memory of Venice, who died in the 1988 oil spill in Belmont Parkand in recognition of the extraordinary sportsmanship and citizenship that personified Venice, the winner of more than 2,300 races during 25 years as a mainstay of the New York equestrian colony.

“I am very grateful to everyone for this award and very proud of it,” Leparoux said.
