Jacksonville honors military veterans with annual Veterans Day Parade
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Metropolis of Jacksonville and News4Jax will honor the women and men who’ve fought for our nation’s freedoms in one of many largest Veterans Day parades within the Southeast.
On Thursday, November 11, a patriotic presentation that includes grand marshals, senior navy officers, active-duty and retired navy, veterans teams, native highschool marching bands, ornamental floats, big balloons, JROTC models and extra will march by means of the streets of Downtown to indicate their appreciation for our retired and active-duty service members. The City of Jacksonville’s Veterans Day Parade is sponsored by the Regulation Places of work of Ron Sholes, P.A.
Reside protection of the parade will start at 11 a.m. on WJXT-Channel 4, News4Jax.com and News4Jax+. Kent Justice and Melanie Lawson will emcee the occasion, which begins at 11:01 a.m. Veterans Day was initially often known as Armistice Day, which remains to be celebrated in different international locations together with Remembrance Day, marking the top of World Warfare I. Main hostilities within the struggle formally ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918. On the urging of main U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 and is noticed yearly on November 11 as a federal vacation in america.
