Italian prosecutors on Saturday ordered the seizure of parts used for production Boeing The 787 aircraft they said did not meet the specifications requested by the customer.

Titanium and aluminum parts were seized by financial police at an Italian defense and aviation group’s factory. Leonardo in Grottaglie, southern Italy.

Components are manufactured by two small companies, Processi Speciali and Manufacturing Process Specification (MPS), which were previously sub-suppliers to Leonardo. Both of these sub-suppliers are under investigation, said prosecutors from the southeastern city of Brindisi, who ordered the seizure.

The administrator of Processi Speciali declined to comment. The court-appointed administrator for MPS was not immediately available for comment.

Eight unnamed individuals are also being investigated for fraud and actions that threaten the safety of air transport.

Prosecutors said in a statement their investigation found the parts were “manufactured in titanium and aluminum of a quality and origin different from those specified by the customer and in violation of relevant specifications Mandarin”.

Prosecutors said the parts were used to “manufacture sections 44 and 46 of the fuselage of the Boeing 787.”

Leonardo, who filed the lawsuit on December 7, is the affected party in the administrative and criminal investigations, the statement said.

Leonardo declined to comment.

A spokesman for Boeing in Italy declined to comment.

In October, Boeing said some parts of the 787 Dreamliner supplied by MPS had been improperly manufactured over the past three years.

At the time, the American plane manufacturer said the quality problem did not affect the immediate safety of flights, and it notified the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Undelivered planes will be reworked, and planes that have already carried passengers will undergo a review process with Boeing and receive FAA confirmation, Boeing said.

In November, three sources told Reuters that prosecutors in southern Italy had opened an investigation into MPS supplying parts to Boeing.
