In what could be interpreted as a response, Apple has revealed a new change coming to iMessage in its upcoming version. iOS 17 version, slated for release in the fall. This change makes for a more pleasant experience when iPhone users are texting in the same conversation with Android user.
Previously, iMessage group chats with Android users, marked with a green bubble, would restrict iPhone users from accessing key features like thread feedback, text editing, etc. Photos and videos Uploads are also compressed more than usual.
IN iOS 17group chats will now unlock those restricted features for Iphone, which allows users to communicate and interact with Android users the same way they do in an iPhone-only chat. It’s not RCS, but, hopefully, this will reduce the chances of that one Android user being ostracized from social groups. Its a real problem.

The bottom line is: Changes like edited text messages and subject threads don’t appear — or at least out of order — in the Android Messages app. That means if an individual on an iPhone corrects a typo about when or where the hangout is happening, the Android users in the chat won’t see the update.
Finally, the “improvements” brought to iMessage group chats in iOS 17 only benefit iPhone users. And, in some ways, they’re even more impacting Android users’ text messaging experience.
