IND vs IRE: Hooda, Hardik lead India to victory in first T20I rain

Ireland fought hard but India proved too strong for the hosts to win their T20I opener with seven goals here on Sunday.

Harry Tector’s 64 counter-attack failed to escape from 33 balls that sent Ireland down to 108 points four after rain reduced the game to 12 goals.

India has always led in running percentage in the chase and with the contributions of Ishan Kishan (26 points 11), Deepak Hooda (47 not out 29) and captain Hardik Pandya (24 points 12), took the win. in 9.2 passes.

Kishan continued his good form to give India a quick start. The first round of 15 rounds ended with Kishan picking up several quads and Joshua Little’s six.

In a rather unexpected move, Deepak Hooda debuted alongside Kishan in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad. He found his rhythm again after a rough start and had a win-win in 64 runs against Hardik. Just when it looked like India was running away with the competition, Craig Young successively eliminated Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav (0) to keep his team’s hopes up. Kishan’s stump was disturbed in another attempt to get the ball out of the park.

Returning to his side after a respite from injury, Suryakumar had the first beauty rush to trap him in front of the trees.

However, Hardik and Hooda continued to make their shot and a 21 pass from Andy Mcbrine put India back in control.

HIGHLIGHTS

While Hardik started after hitting three six points, Hooda stayed until the end to get four wins. His plays included two 6s and a half bylines.

Earlier, India chose to play in overcast conditions but soon after the rain came, causing the match to start delayed by more than two hours and 20 minutes.

Conditions were ripe for Bhuvneshwar Kumar to make a talking ball and he did it early in the game.

The controller deftly let the ball spin in both directions before a player sank through the defense of Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie.

Skipper Hardik Pandya stepped forward in the second half and used two tackles to eliminate Paul Stirling’s danger.

After hitting the first ball over the open space, Stirling made a similar shot but was misled to get caught in the middle of the field.

Avesh Khan was later caught by Gareth Delany in his first match to leave Ireland at the age of 22 with three.

India was supposed to weather the outcry but Ireland had a spirited bounce back thanks to Tector, who joined the attack against India’s strikers, including debutant Umran. Malik.

All eyes are on India’s sense of speed but he’s had a rather nervous start to his international career.

He pulled his third ball down towards the foot and it ran to the boundary off Lorcan Tucker’s pads (18 of 16). Two balls later, Tector hit a beautiful straight line out of a full serve. Malik pulled short next but Hector was ready to pull it for six.

Tucker smashed two six six in a row against Hardik to add momentum to the rounds.

The final half of the round yielded 17 runs and pushed the total past 100 with Tector taking a touchline from an Avesh backstroke before making a full six throw through deep cover.

Brief score: Ireland: 108 for 4 of 12 passes (Harry Tector 64 not out; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1/16, Yuzvendra Chahal 1/11).

India: 111 to 3 in 9.2 passes (Deepak Hooda 47 did not win; Craig Young 2/18)
