“I’m sure we’ll give India a tough time”: Innocent Zimbabwean star Kaia arrives at NDTV

Zimbabwe could not have hoped to enter the ODI series against India in higher spirits, having beaten Bangladesh in both the T20I series and the subsequent ODI series. Prior to Bangladesh’s visit, Zimbabwe had also secured a place in the 2022 T20 World Cup by defeating the Netherlands in the Qualifier final. Opening header Innocent Kaia spoke to NDTV and said that the whole team is very confident and India will not be easy in the three-match competition.

“Confidence is very high at the moment because the players are playing well. The coach is always positive when it comes to cricket. He always tells us what to do and what not to do,” Innocent said. with NDTV in an exclusive interview.

“I’m sure we’ll give India a hard time when they get here,” he said. “I’m looking forward to winning this series, that’s the plan.”

One of the main architects of Zimbabwe’s recent winning streak is Sikandar Raza. The all-timer 36-year-old went for half a century in two T20I matches they beat Bangladesh and then two centuries undefeated in two ODI wins.

“Sikandar Raza is playing very well at the moment. He is in the state of his life at the moment. Everything he touches turns to gold,” Innocent Kaia said.

“So we just hope that he keeps that momentum. Whatever he’s doing, he’s going to do it against India,” he said.

And does it help when they face a team like Bangladesh, who have good spin attack play, before India’s visit?

“For me, that plays an important role. Because first I played against Afghanistan. Faced with Mujeeb and Rashid Khan and I played well against them. And then we played against Bangladesh, against against Taijul (Islamic). They don’t have Shakib but Mehidy Hasan Miraz, he’s a good cameraman,” said Innocent.

“It’s been a good momentum for the team because we’ve got experience against good spinners. A good seam attack too, facing against good spinners. Mustafizur Rahman. He’s a good pitcher,” he said.

“For us, at the moment, I don’t want to lie, we are playing good cricket,” he insisted.

The 30-year-old also named a pitcher he looks forward to facing.

Mohammed Siraj is a good bowler. It would be great to face him. It would be nice to beat him because he’s a great pitcher,” he said.
