Ikelite announces housing for the OM OM-1 . system

Ikelite revealed housing for the OM System OM-1 Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera, the first camera from OM Digital Solutions – the company taking over the Olympus brand – and conceivably the last camera with the “Olympus” badge on the front. Although the OM-1 ostensibly has a lot in common with E-M1 Mark IIIit improves on Olympus’s flagship in a variety of ways — the sensor is a 20.4MP stacked CMOS design, video is recorded at up to 4K/60p without cropping, and continuous shooting with the shutter electronic (with AF) is a pretty impressive 50 fps.

While camera specs have changed dramatically, Ikelite hasn’t changed its winning formula, offering a case very similar to the one for the E-M1 III: Built around a Dry port system The company’s Lock Micro (DLM), the OM-1 case features a large, curved shutter (with the option to extend the lever for comfortable reach when using the Ikelite right-hand grip and tray) , ABS-PC housing with transparent back and optionally adding a TTL converter for auto exposure when using compatible DS series strobes. Cleverly, it’s the same DL3 DS Link TTL switch works with Olympus and Panasonic cameras, allowing you to quickly switch between TTL and manual modes.

The best part about the new OM-1 case is that it costs about the same as the E-M1 Mark III case: $950.

200DLM/B Underwater Case for the Mirrorless Camera OM-1 OM . System

The 200DLM/B Underwater Protective Case is the perfect companion allowing the OM-1 System’s micro four-thirds mirrorless camera (Olympus) to be used in or around water for scuba diving, snorkeling, and diving. breathing, surfing, swimming pool or any adventure.

OM System OM-1

Not to be confused with Olympus’ 50-year-old film cameras, the OM-1 is the new OM System brand’s flagship micro four-thirds mirrorless model and perhaps the last camera to carry the Olympus name up front. .

Whatever you call it, the OM-1 is a powerful mid-range camera and a lot of fun to use underwater. The 20.4-megapixel camera features in-body 5-axis image stabilization (IBIS), 4K/60p Ultra HD and 1080/240p video recording, and a decent battery life of 520 shots per charge (CIPA).

While you’ll need a case to take it underwater (we’ve got you covered), the OM-1 boasts solid weather resistance along with an IP53 rating for dust and water resistance.

Ergonomics and handling

Good ergonomics are important when you need to focus on proper composition, focus, and exposure. Large, curved joysticks put the most important controls right where you need them: shutter and autofocus (via the AEL/AFL button). This combination allows you to shoot with or without focus using the back button, an advanced technique useful for sharp focus of fast-moving and super macro subjects. Each lever can be extended using the option Shutter Trigger Extension #4077.95 for the perfect distance when using the right handle.

All rotation controls are intuitively operated via premium soft-touch buttons. The direct-drive, stainless steel rotary controls are virtually unsafe and are user-friendly and adjustable in one step.

Camera buttons are accessible with a smooth operation, hard anodized aluminum push buttons for reliable performance and easy maintenance. These controls are clearly labeled by laser engraving on the back of the case and never fade or fall off.

Two 1/4-20 threaded mounting points are included on the bottom of the case for simple, no-rotating mounting of the tray and handle system. The handle offers improved ergonomics underwater and is the foundation for your light mount. The Tray with dual quick release handles #9523.64 is the most popular choice for both handling and mounting accessories.

Establish

Camera holder at the front for easy installation and disassembly. A small mounting plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and is fixed to the front of the case. There is no need to remove the camera mount plate from the camera for surface use or when replacing batteries or memory cards. The mounting plate has a 1/4-20 threaded mount on the bottom so it can be mounted to a surface tripod.

Trust

The unique back seal design prevents accidental twisting or stretching of the o-ring for simple and confident assembly. We’ve eliminated the need for a trench or o-groove that can trap sand, dirt, or debris. The two double-locking stainless steel locking caps are simple to use and are virtually unbreakable. The clear back allows you to see the o-ring that forms a hard, watertight seal when it’s closed.

Vacuum test

A spare 1/2-20 threaded accessory port is provided on the side of the case for easy optional installation Vacuum set #47012. The vacuum kit allows you to vacuum up the case to check for leaks before entering the water.

The vacuum drawing on the system also provides additional safety at the water’s surface, which is especially important for residential use in areas with rough ocean waves.

Viewfinder

The camera’s large, super bright LCD screen is viewable from side to side through the back of the case. An included optical viewfinder window blocks ambient light to improve the visibility of the camera’s electronic viewfinder (EVF) for both composition and image review.

Get the brightest and sharpest view on your camera’s OLED EVF by adding the optional Magnifying Viewfinder. The Supereye is quick and easy to attach to the Straight Advanced Magnifying Viewfinder #6890.2 or the 45° Magnifying Viewfinder (Type 3) #6891.3.

Lighting

Light is absorbed when it travels short distances underwater, making colors appear dim or monochromatic. To preserve the natural colors of your subject, it’s important to stay within arm’s reach — no more than 3-4 feet (1m) away. For best results, we recommend adding an external flash or high-powered continuous light if you regularly dive below 15′ (3m).

You can enjoy the fastest and most accurate TTL display on the market by adding DL3 DS Link TTL Converter and Hotshoe Kit #46032 and flashing Ikelite DS compatible. Rear curtain flash sync is supported. In-camera exposure compensation can be added or subtracted.

Reliable locking connectors between the hotshoe and the baffle make it easy to install your TTL hotshoe or carry spare parts when traveling to remote locations.

This camera does not have a built-in flash to enable fiber optic flicker.

The continuously lit video light can be used in place of or in addition to the flash. The continuous light is not as bright as the flash. Constantly on lights provide extra versatility as they can be used to aid focus and improve color when recording video.

There is a simple rule that the brighter the water, the better. High-quality lighting can produce professional-quality results.

Gate system

Changing ports couldn’t be simpler than with this system—just press down on the port and tighten the three thumbscrews. Feel the positive reinforcement that the gate is secure with simple components you can trust in a remote location.

This case accepts ports from our DLM Port System to accommodate a wide selection of the best zoom, macro and wide-angle lenses for underwater use. Our custom optical grade acrylic dome components provide the color, clarity and durability of glass at a fraction of the weight and travel costs.

Corrosion-free durability and performance

Our white ABS-PC composite housing provides year-round corrosion-free strength and performance with minimal maintenance. ABS-PC is lighter than aluminum for ease of movement and less drag underwater. Specially formulated color deflects the sun to keep your camera running longer, cooler. Compared to a black or clear case, the bright color provides superior contrast to enhance the view of the camera, LCD monitor and o-ring seal.

Made in USA

Ikelite products are designed, engineered, and tested in the USA. We use premium, locally sourced materials. Our cases are hand crafted and individually tested for fit and function. Each unit is pressure tested to 200 feet (60m). We back our products with over 50 years of experience and the best reputation for service in the diving industry.

Compatibility

This case only holds the OM System OM-1 camera. Differences in lens and controller placement prevent other camera models from being used interchangeably in the same housing.

This case is only compatible with OM System cameras shipped by the manufacturer. Unless otherwise noted, this case is not suitable for use with additional clamps, battery grips, eyepieces, LCD caps or other accessories.
