How to organize your underwear
Over the years, I have amassed a pretty nice lingerie collection, have many bra accessories and get quotes from some the biggest experts in the industry about the do’s and don’ts of underwear across the board. Most of these rules are easy enough to follow, with the exception of one (at least for me). In my most recent lingerie try on for a story I wrote How does it feel to wear underwear for a week?, the salesperson who supported me told me that if I don’t take good care of my lingerie, I’m basically killing it, not getting my money’s worth, and so on and so forth.
Immediately, I went into panic mode when I realized that all my underwear was now stuffed in a drawer along with the rest of my $25 underwear and random sports bras. . In other words, it’s not where it belongs. Store and organize underwear? How do you even do it and where? What are the rules? What am I missing? To ease my now frantic mind, I reached out to Julie McConnell, a former senior shopper at Journelle, giving her two cents on the matter. She fully confirmed what the salesman told me a few weeks ago.
McConnell tells me: “Properly maintained bras can preserve the shape and integrity of bras so they last longer. Basically, if you want to get your money’s worth on lingerie you’ve had for years, storing it carefully and purposefully is the only way to go. Otherwise, you risk killing it from the first moment you slip it in the drawer.
