How to fix a clipped bird wing in Photoshop

There are few things more frustrating than getting the perfect shot with a beautiful pose, lovely background, and perfect lighting, only to find out you’ve accidentally cut off part of a bird’s wing. When that happens, Photoshop can come to the rescue. This helpful video tutorial will show you how to fix a photo with cropped bird wings in Photoshop.

Coming to you from Jan Wegener, this amazing video tutorial will show you how to restore a clipped bird’s wings in Photoshop. This can happen for a few reasons. Bird photography often requires quickly tracking erratic and unpredictable movement using a long focal length lens with a narrow angle of view, making it easy to miss just a little bit. Furthermore, bird photography is usually done with a supertelephoto prime lens, and with those fixed focal lengths you don’t get the luxury of playing it safe by shooting a little wider than necessary to give yourself some space if needed, leading to this problem. Thankfully, this isn’t a particularly difficult fix, and it also provides some good practice in some Photoshop techniques. Watch the video above for a full summary from Wegener.
