How to choose the best aperture for photos

Along with shutter speed and ISO, aperture is one of the three basic exposure parameters that help create a technically good photo. However, aperture is more than just a tool for getting the correct exposure, as it gives you powerful creative control over the look and feel of the resulting image. This great video tutorial will show you how to choose the correct aperture for a variety of images to create a technically correct shot and creatively convey what you want.

Coming to you from Dylan Goldby, this great video tutorial will show you how to choose the right aperture for your images. I think this is especially important to keep an eye on if you’re new to photography, as much of what we see today relies on super wide apertures to create a very small depth of field and turn the background into a amorphous blurs. And while there’s certainly room for that style, it’s both overused and can look pretty one-sided. Being willing to work with a narrower aperture and deeper depth of field can be a challenge at first, but it will go a long way to improving your visual storytelling. Check out the video above for a full rundown from Goldby.
