We all know the benefits of turmeric and gold powder for ourselves – but what about our dogs? Turmeric for dogs is growing in popularity – and one of the easiest ways to serve it is golden turmeric. The formula of Dr. English for Golden Paste

This is Standard gold paste formula of Dr.:

1 glass of water
½ cup turmeric powder
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil or flaxseed oil
2-3 teaspoons of fresh black pepper

Put turmeric powder and water in a saucepan over low heat.

Continue to cook and stir for about 10 minutes as turmeric forms a thick paste.

Add coconut oil (or EVOO) and pepper. Continue stirring until well blended.

Remove from heat to cool.

Store cooled Golden Paste in a glass jar for up to two weeks or freeze in a silicone mold.

I made a golden paste for our dogs using, not water, but liver broth. Recipe for yellow sauce with liver broth

First, boil a pound of chicken liver (or organic veal liver, if you prefer) in a saucepan.

Once the liver is done, pour off a cup of the broth and set aside for the yellow sauce recipe. (I then frozen the remaining broth for future recipes and chilled the chicken livers overnight, thinly sliced, and dehydrated when making dog treats the next day.)

Along with the liver broth, you’ll need turmeric (this recipe calls for about a box of grocery store turmeric), finely ground black pepper, and a healthy oil like extra virgin olive oil.

First, I boiled the broth and turmeric over medium heat, stirring often to cook into a thick paste:
