How does the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art compare to the Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM?

The impressive new 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens offers loads of impressive image quality at an equally impressive price point. However, as part of the G Master series, the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM brings with it some of the company’s most advanced optical designs. So how do the two compare? This excellent video review takes a look at both.

Coming to you from Alex BarreraThis great review video compares the new one Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art arrive Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM. While both lenses are impressive, with some slight differences in image quality and maximum aperture, the real thing that I think potential buyers should consider is the price. At $849, the Sigma is less than half the price of the Sony ($1,998). There are arguments to be made for Sony, but I find it hard to believe that the majority of photographers will need to drop the extra $1,000. It should also be noted that f/1.2 is only a third of a stop wider than f/1.4, which is hardly noticeable in practice. However, you certainly can’t go wrong with either lens! Check out the video above for the full recap from Barrera on both lenses.
