Electrify America is thriving on solar to offset its charging network. Honda has teased its Prologue electric SUV. Honda on Wednesday released a sketch giving us a first look at it The first electric SUV to launch in 2024. The Honda Prologue will be based on GM’s Ultium EV platform and assembled by GM, although Honda’s own EVs are in the works, coming just a few years later. Honda also hinted that it will prepare its dealers with a “leveled approach” towards its goal of 500,000 EVs by 2030.
Electrify America signed in for 75 MW of Mojave Desert’s New Solar Power, allowing to increase the annual energy output of the charging network by 225,000 MWh. That would be more than enough to offset the use of the charging network, which is already backed by 100% renewable energy.
A software bug for the Gearshift Control unit on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 resulted in recalling nearly 20,000 vehicles because of concerns about urgent roads. While that sounds like a perfect example of rolling out the fix over the air, and these models are built on a foundation that prioritizes over-the-air updates, neither of them allow it.
The so-called Purpose Vehicle (PBV) is Kia’s term for electric commercial vehicles and a wide range of vehicles. Electric trucks will play an important role in Kia’s strategy to deploy them — towards advanced mobility and automated technology. It initially targeted 100,000 units per year, eventually expanding into various global markets.
