Hero dog saves injured pedestrian by keeping him warm until help arrives
There are many reasons to go hiking with dogs, including opportunities for fresh air, exercise, and bonding.
But a touching story from Croatia offers another reason to go hiking with your furry companion. When an injured hiker got stuck on a mountain in Croatia, his loyal dog saved his life.
When Grga Brkic fell during a weekend hike in the Velebit mountains of Croatia, his situation looked dire at first. Not only was the hiker so badly injured that he couldn’t move, but Brkic was also stuck atop a snowy mountain nearly 6,000 feet above sea level.
Luckily, Brkic has been hiking with Alaskan Malamute, North, and his 8-month-old puppy knows exactly what to do.
While the hiker’s friends ran for help, the loyal dog curled up up his master to keep him warm. When rescuers arrived a few hours later, they applauded the dog for saving the injured hiker’s life.

“Friendship and love between man and dog knows no boundaries,” the rescuers wrote on Facebook, according to Guardians. The post also included a heartwarming photo of North shielding himself from the cold even as the pair were carried down the mountain on a stretcher.
“This little dog is a real miracle”, owner of North reported told a local newspaper. We couldn’t agree more.
Dogs to the rescue, again!
