He will also face one count of terrorism causing death, a rare charge for a school shooting.
Seven other people – six students and a teacher – were injured, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said.
The county’s top prosecutor has settled the terrorism charge.
“There’s no pamphlet on how to prosecute a school shooting and honestly, I wish I never had – it didn’t happen so I didn’t have to consider it, but when we sat down , I wanted to make sure all of the victims were represented in the charges we filed against this individual,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald told CNN. “If that’s not terrorism, I don’t know what is.”
She said that there was a lot of digital evidence in the case – video and social media stuff.
“But you probably don’t even have to see that to know how horrifying it is to be around another student shooting and killing other students. I mean, it’s horrifying,” she said. to add.
“Like every other child in that building, and I resolved that on a terrorist charge, we must have an appropriate outcome that speaks to the victims who were not killed or injured but also, they were affected. enjoy, how do they go back to school?”
She said many students could not eat or sleep.
“Their parents are sleeping next to them and we shouldn’t ignore that,” she told CNN. “Obviously four children were murdered and many more injured but more than 1,000 were also victims.”
At Crumbley’s hearing on Wednesday, prosecutor Marc Keast said Crumbley stepped out of the school bathroom and began firing. Crumbley walked down the hall at “methodical speed” and fired more rounds.
This continued for another four or five minutes and he went into another bathroom, Keast said. When the deputies arrived, the prosecutor said, Crumbley put down his gun and surrendered.
“An act that may be a violent felony under the laws of this state, whether committed in this state or not.
“Act that the litigant knows or has reason to know is dangerous to human life.
“An act intended to intimidate or coerce civilians or to influence or influence the operation of a government or a government entity through intimidation or coercion.”
The criminal complaint against Crumbley addresses the third condition and says the action was taken against the Oxford High School community.
That incident comes two months after gunman Nikolas Cruz shot more than 30 people as he moved more than 10 minutes past Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
