At the age of 40 and after consecutive defeats, former featherweight champion Heather Hardy is eager to prove that she still belongs in the championship.

The New York-born girl packed her bags and collected her passport as she prepared to head abroad to face former featherweight champion Terri Harper in front of her British fans at Nottingham Arena. However, while Hardy is confident in her ability to quiet the crowd and return to the winner’s circle, she is met with unfortunate news.

The high-ranked candidate recently revealed that she cannot compete with Harper due to a damaged left wrist. Although she is very apologetic, Hardy also hopes that after she goes through her healing process, the two will be able to exchange fists.

Hardy said on his social media account: “I fell. “Wrist broken and I will be off March 12. I apologize to Terri Harper, really hope this event can be rescheduled.”

At the moment, it is not clear how long Hardy will be sidelined. Regardless of the time frame, with just a few weeks until March 12, Harper could be forced to face an opponent that needs warning or wait patiently for Hardy to make a full recovery.

Like Hardy, 25-year-old Harper is eager to wipe the taste of failure from her mouth. The former star was roughly stopped during her most recent in-ring appearance against Alycia Baumgardner on Nov. 13. Harper tried desperately to defend her 130-pound WBC title but failed found himself on the wrong end of the game losing by a striking knockout in the fourth round.
