Parts of the UK could see temperatures soar as high as 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) today, according to forecasts.
Forecasters say London and southeastern England will have a peak of 29 degrees Celsius (84.2 degrees Fahrenheit), with clear skies in the afternoon, making it hotter than parts of the Maldives, forecasters said. forecast said.
The heatwave is likely to last into next week, with temperatures set to soar above 32 degrees Celsius (89.6 degrees Fahrenheit) on Tuesday, making it the warmest day of the year so far.
Central England is likely to hit 28 degrees Celsius (82.4 degrees Fahrenheit), with the South West reaching 23 degrees Celsius (73.4 degrees Fahrenheit).
In Wales, mercury is forecast to hit 26C (78.8F) on Sunday afternoon, northern England could hit 27C (80.6F), Scotland could hit 25C (77F). and Northern Ireland can go up to 23 degrees Celsius.
Met Office meteorologist Dan Stroud: “There was a maximum heading of around 29 degrees Celsius throughout Sunday in London and the South East.
“We’re going to see quite a bit of wall-to-wall sunshine over much of England and Wales and a good part of Scotland.”
It comes after a Temperature health warnings have been issued for most of the countryfor those who are warned not to stay in the sun for long periods of time and make sure they are covered in high-factor sunscreen.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Met Office have issued a level 3 alert for East England, South East and London with current peaks forecast at 32C (89F). Level 2 warnings have been issued for the South West, East Midlands, West Midlands, North West and Yorkshire regions and the Humber regions.
A level 2 warning is issued when there is a “high probability” of the forecasted conditions, while a level 3 means there is a “90% probability”. Alerts will be issued from 9 a.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Friday.
The Met Office said the hottest day in the UK so far was June 17, when Heathrow hit 32.7 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures are expected to cool down this weekend, as a cold front rolls in.
