Hazel E seems to compare her 2018 outfit to Kim Kardashian’s Balenciaga Caution Tape outfit
Hazel E wants everyone to focus their energies on supporting Black designers! But her call to action is getting mixed reactions due to the inspiration behind it. On Sunday, Kim Kardashian arrived at the Balenciaga show at Paris Fashion Week wrapped in duct tape, except that the word “caution” has been replaced with “Balenciaga.” After the look circulated, both Hazel and designer Odain Watson shared 2018 footage of a similar outfit Hazel had worn.
First, Hazel shared a video of Kim walking through a place with a carefully taped look. With her retweet, Hazel included the compliment, “she ate.”
Hours later, she shared a clip of her 2018 music video “What Are You Talkin Bout.” In the video, Hazel is seen wearing a loose pair of pants with a tape design that carefully wraps her entire leg. She also wears a jacket with a design that reflects the pants. Shortly after, a post from Odain’s clothing brand Odaingerous appeared to point out similarities between both outfits.
“Mirror, mirror on the wall. We did it first @hazele,” the Odaingerous account’ posted to Instagram Story. “Congratulations @Balenciaga on your new collection @KimKardashian.”
Hazel E not only retweeted Odaingerous’ comment, but also posted a clip on her Instagram profile of the preparation and filming process. This is where she seems to aim to match designers Balenciaga and Kim.
“Going into 2018 when @odaingerous brought me in [caution tape emoticon] tape for the #WRUTB video session,” he said. “Support your Black designers, whose ideas can serve as inspiration for high fashion brands.”
Meanwhile, Devon Waller, Hazel’s husband, is riding for his lady in her comments section. Below her post, he lets her know that she beat Soulja Boy for something first.
