Guillermo Rigondeaux hospitalized after domestic accident
Guillermo Rigondeaux suffered injuries to his face and both eyes after a pressure cooker exploded in his face at his home in Miami.
The 41-year-old has only recently returned to the US after a point loss in Dubai on February 26, but is currently hospitalized with significantly impaired vision following the crash, reports the BBC. El Nuevo Herald.
“It’s really unfortunate,” said Rigondeaux coach Alex Bornote. “When the pot exploded and we saw how Rigondeaux was left, we thought the worst, because his face and eyes looked terrible from the impact of the explosion. But we hope that he recovers.
“In any case, this is a serious blow to Rigondeaux, because we are already preparing for another fight. The important thing now is that he fully recovers his eyesight and we will be determined about his future later on.”
