Grimes auctions off her Met Gala accessories to support Ukraine

Grimes is doing her part to support blacks, indigenous peoples and people of color in Ukraine by auctioning off some of her most memorable fashion accessories.
“I’m auctioning off things from my Met gala last year to raise money to help get BIPOC families out of Ukraine because they’re having a hard time leaving at the border,” she said in a post. posted on Instagram on May 16, adding that the auction on display at Los Angeles’ HVW8 Gallery includes “works by 50 elite artists in support of Emergency Response & BIPOC families.” inside and outside Ukraine.”
Explaining that each item in the auction “offers a unique interpretation of the ‘resistance’ theme,” Grimes donated a pair of unique ear cuffs, designed by Romantic Elf Jewelry, and a chrome face mask CHRISHABANA x Dune Harkonnen.
The test musician wore the pieces to the Met Gala 2021 in September, along with an Iris Van Herpen sheer gown, for the event’s “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” theme. Her look — inspired by the hit 1984 classic Sand dunes (and the subsequent 2021 remake) based on Frank Herbert’s novel — also includes a replica of a medieval sword replaced from the Colt AR-15A3. However, this weapon is not being auctioned because it is a “fixture” in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
