Greenland’s summers have cooled surprisingly well over the past decade… Fueled by natural ocean cycles – Boosted by that?

Science Daily here reports: “Climate changes in the tropical Pacific have been temporary slowing the rate of rapid warming and melting of ice in Greenland.

Science Daily adds: “Researchers at Hokkaido University, Japan, have explained the puzzling decades-long slowdown of summer warming across Greenland. Their observational analysis and computer simulations show that changes in sea surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific Ocean, thousands of miles south, trigger cooler summer temperatures across the Pacific Ocean. Greenland. The results, published in the journal Earth & Environment Communicationwill help improve future predictions of the melting of the Greenland and Arctic sea ice in the coming decades. ”

Apparently this has something to do with changes to El Niño Climate patterns in the Pacific, and these powerful cycles in the Pacific, divide weather and climate patterns globally, the researchers say.

“The findings and slowdown in Greenland’s summer warming do not undermine the severity of climate change or the need to address greenhouse gas emissions,” Matsumura stressed. But scientists admit that the cooler summers in Greenland are unexpected. They also need to start admitting that they seriously underestimate these powerful natural ocean cycles, naively thinking that CO2 promote the entire program.

“We expect that global warming and ice melt in Greenland and the rest of the Arctic will accelerate further in the future due to the effects of anthropogenic warming,” said Matsumura.

And Matsumura will continue to tell us that – until the ensuing cycles of nature bury modest human impact once more. A gas unsuitable for the enormous, still enigmatic heat fluxes of the oceans… a phenomenon for which we have very little historical data and which is still poorly understood.
