Greenland Mass Balance – Rise thanks to that?

By Andy May

The following is from Cap Allon’s excellent post here. We are all used to the mainstream media distorting climate science data and analysis, but he discovered a case beyond bland. Consider this post a follow-up to Dave Middleton parcel first month.

Read on to Cap Allon’s words:

APPENDIX MSM CODE

[Greenland’s ‘healthy’ melt season, was obscured across the mainstream media.]

CNN wrote the following on July 20 article: “The amount of ice melted in Greenland between July 15 and 17 is enough to fill 7.2 million Olympic-sized swimming pools or cover the entire state of West Virginia with one foot of water.”

They even quote from cLiMaTe ScIeNtIsT Ted Scambos: “The melt in the north over the past week is unusual, if you look at the 30 to 40 year climate average. But melting is increasing, and the event is a spike in the amount of melt. ”

CNN is shouting about this meltdown period (circled below):

I’ve given you data on the entire season.

CNN’s boldness in claiming that the 2022 melting season is nonetheless alarming is disruptive behavior when it comes to cherry picking at best, and at worst, outright fraud. Even the most staunch AGW supporters must have seen this – surely propaganda can’t be that dazzling?

‘TOTAL’ BALANCE MASS

‘Surface’ mass balance (SMB) is just one of three components when it comes to determining the overall ‘health’ of the iceberg –its ‘Total Mass’ (TMB) – with the others being ‘Marine’ Mass Balance (MMB) and ‘Basic’ Mass Balance (BMB).

In the case of Greenland, the MMB includes the breaking – or ‘birth’ – of icebergs as well as the melting of glaciers meeting warmer ocean water. While BMB, although largely insignificant, refers to ice loss from the bottom of the ice sheet mainly caused by the effects of friction and ground heat flux.

The components of Total Equilibrium Mass dating back to 1987 are shown below – CNN pays close attention. SMB is shown in blue, MMB in green, BMB in yellow, and most importantly, TMB in red.

This is the official data. Every news outlet has access to it. And what it clearly shows is, well, not much, certainly nothing to write home about, and certainly nothing ‘catastrophic’.

TMB (red line) actually declined from 1996 to 2012; however, the trend has turned very clearly since then, to one of overall growth. This is more clearly depicted in the next chart (excluding the higher readings of 2022):

Figure 3. TMB (red line) actually declined from 1996 to 2012; however, the trend has turned very clearly since then, to one of overall growth.

Now, I don’t have to sit here scratching my head wondering why MSM is acting so desperately that it’s hard to mess up. I’m not naive. The Greenland Unalarming data does not serve the doom and gloom agenda and truthful reporting of it risks preventing the fear instilled in the veins that require constant management of the masses. to be effective, to force them to destroy the controlled society—now fully present.

This is what MSM is tasked with today, perhaps it has always been – a population forever in fear, always looking behind them for the next ‘catastrophe’ that threatens to wreak havoc and destruction. It’s much easier to destroy them, to marshal, to possess, to control. It was a joke.

And remember, the data and observations do not change. When in doubt, monitor the data.
