In the CyGames Anniversary SP stream for Granblue Fantasyit announced an upcoming crossover event with FFXI. FFXI debuted in 2002 in Japan and was the first mainstream Final Fantasy MMORPG. The Granblue Fantasy and FFXI the crossover event will take place in May 2022. Details of who will make the journey from Vana’diel will appear closer to that window. [Thanks, Dengeki!]

Although the game is twenty years old and with great success FFXIV exist in the same franchise, FFXI still receive regular updates. Actually, in March 2022 An update has appeared online tweaking the Treant Ambuscade battle.
During the stream, Emiri Kato and Asami Imai (Vira) cheered excitedly at this announcement. Kato regularly streams games on her Youtube Channel. Yuichi Nakamura (Romeo) is also a big fan of the game, seeing his Twitter handle as “nakamuraFF11. ”
CyGames has organized many collaborative events in Granblue Fantasy with other intellectual property in the past. Recent examples include intersecting with Gintama, Doraemonand Uma Musume. Considering its high fantasy setting, Final Fantasy XI the characters may not look too out of date.
