GoPro announces HERO13 Black that promises improved battery life

GoPro has announced a new product HERO13 Black (along with a refreshed version of the base 4K action camera, hero). The flagship HERO13 Black has a better battery with 10% more overall capacity, promising improved power efficiency for longer runtime. Therefore, according to GoPro, 2.7K/120p recording lasts 58% longer, 5.4K/60p lasts 38% longer, 4K/60p lasts 28% longer, and 1080/240p lasts 39% longer.

HDR capture was added to last year’s model, but now the HERO13 Black can also shoot in Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR mode, recording at a wider color gamut at 10-bit and Rec. 2100 color space Using the new “Burst Slo-Mo” feature, HERO13 Black can now shoot 5.3K footage at 120 fps, 900p footage at 360 fps, and 720p footage at 400 frames/second.

GoPro has also updated the lens mod system for the HERO13 Black, introducing three lens options—Ultra Wide Lens, Macro Lens, and Anamorphic Lens—as well as a new set of ND filters. Like lenses, ND filters are recognized by HERO13 Black and the camera automatically adjusts exposure. Other upgrades include a new “Snap and Go” magnetic latch mount (while retaining the traditional 1/4-20 mounting threads) and WiFi 6 for up to 40% faster wireless transmission.

Available from September 22 from retailers such as backscatterGoPro HERO13 Black costs $400.
