Google’s leaked product roadmap looks familiar

Given the magnitude of a company like Google, it seems impossible to keep its product departments a secret.

We’ve seen this happen before; in fact, before Google could perfect its first Pixel, there was little left to the imagination.

One recent breaking news by Android Authority takes things to the next level, giving us the culmination behind the curtain on what Google has in store for the next three years — you read that right, the next three years — specifically related can come pixel phone.

According to the publication, “anonymous but trusted sources” suggest that between now and 2025, Google will release the following devices:

  • 2023: Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold and Pixel 8 series.
  • 2024: Pixel 8a (7a series pending success) and Pixel 9 (three models).
  • 2025: The foldable clamshell Pixel and the Pixel 10 series.

Also: 2022 is secretly the year of Chromebooks. This is why

Obviously, there’s a lot to learn here, new words foldable (finally!) about the possibility of Google adopting a bi-annual release cycle for its budget-friendly A series of phones. What amazes me is how much more its overall product strategy resembles that of a fruit company; Google clearly wants to take a bite of an apple.

Depending on how successful the Pixel 7a is next year, Google will either continue to release the Pixel 8a in 2024 or move the lineup to a bi-annual release cycle.

This doesn’t come as a big surprise considering how aggressive carrier promotions are (at least in the US), cutting Up to $1,000 off the latest flagship phones in exchange for funding commitments of two to three years. Own the latest iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel phone at the cost of carrier loyalty? Speak less.

In fact, this tweak gives Google more of an opportunity to tweak and stabilize the Pixel’s software and features over the course of a fortnight, the same way Apple did with its own mid-range product. , iPhone SEwhile cutting production and marketing costs.

Pixel Pro XL? Extremely? Maximum?

The leaked roadmap also suggests that Google is planning to release the Pixel 9 series of 2024 in three varieties: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. (Note that the ‘XL’ label is just an inference based on Google’s previous trademarks.)

If this is true and the company resumes its flagship release schedule into the fall of October, then all signs point to Google wanting to compete with Apple’s flagship iPhones, big or small.

Review: Google’s best phone surpasses Samsung in this single-camera feature

It’s bold for any manufacturer without the Apple name to expand its product line to four SKUs. Heck, even Apple has the problem of sustaining demand for smaller and larger iPhones. But at the rate at which phone maker Cupertino is build market share in the USYou will have to be daring to compete.

As always, keep in mind that product roadmaps are subject to change, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Google did so after their next three years of planning — real or not — have been shared with the public. they.
