Gone Astray Relocated to Pleasant Acres Stallions
Gone Astray has relocated to Pleasant Acres Stallions for the 2022 breeding season, the Morriston, Fla., farm announced Nov. 2. He will stand for $2,500.
The 15-year-old son of Dixie Union—Illicit (Mr. Prospector) is a multiple graded stakes winner of $1,125,162. At 3 he captured the Pennsylvania Derby (G2) and Ohio Derby (G2) and at 4 added the Salvator Mile Stakes (G3). He entered stud in 2012 and through Tuesday has progeny earnings of $12,870,449, placing him in the top 10 of Florida’s all-time leading stallions.
Gone Astray has sired 180 winners, 11 black-type winners, nine black-type placed horses, and three graded winners. His runners have averaged $49,124 per start and he has consistently been among the top three stallions of his crop in Florida.
Some of Gone Astray’s prominent runners to date are 2017 Carry Back Stakes (G3) Three Rules (an earner of $971,825), multiple stakes winner Noble Drama ($742,837); Sept. 11 Sheer Drama Stakes winner Starship Bonita ($577,237); and Oct. 23 Noble Damsel Stakes (G3T) winner Shifty She ($317,395).
“Gone Astray has been a complete success since he entered into stud in 2012. We are excited to bring him to Pleasant Acres Stallions, where he can continue to produce graded stakes and black-type winners for our Florida breeders,” said Joe Barbazon. “Gone Astray isn’t a gamble for breeders. He is currently No. 10 on the lifetime sires by progeny earnings list behind some stallions who began their careers decades ago.”
